1) Our Debate Team got 2nd PLACE!! Congrats to Thatriq from m109 and Siew Li from B107!

2) Our male basketball team managed to get 4th place after a really2 close match against Phoenix in Semi and Hydra in 3rd/4th placing.. Good job Jack and other Bball players!! Next year must win GOLD!!

3) Our dart team managed to get to SEMI-FINAL!! Yahooo!! All the best to Suren and his team!! They beat Pegasus en route to semi!

1) Tennis is tomorrow! Samuel, the tennis captain ask everyone to come and support!! It'll be held at Jalan Duta and they are leaving around 4-4.15, PLS JOIN AND SUPPORT THEM ESP THOSE WHO DONT HAVE CLASS AND HAVE TRANSPORT!!

Badminton Selections

There will be Griffin Badminton Selections Thursday (27 August). Please meet 5pm at the atrium. If you have, please bring your badminton racket and shuttle cocks along. Recruitment Drive

Hello Griffinians!!

There will be a recruitment drive for all houses next week. Details are as follows:

Date : 17th August 2009 (Monday)
Time : 10 - 1 pm
Venue : Atrium
*M207 Malaysian Studies Class will be having food fair at the same time

On that day, we will :
1) Distribute house stickers to those who haven't taken yet
2) Recruit people for events lacking of member. For example:
- female futsal - female basketball (urgent)
- darts - male volleyball
- swimming(urgent) - table tennis (urgent)
- tennis - squash
- scrabble - touch rugby

If you're interested in joining any of these events, pls give us your name on Monday. You need not be really good in these events to join them, as long as you've passion and commitment to
learn and practise, that is good enough!!

3) Distributing house shirts (most probably)
- the house shirts will arrive on Monday as I was informed. So, we're planning to distribute the shirts on Monday. Priority will be given to those who'd given us their shirt size
earlier on. Those who'd not informed us of their sizes will be served on 'first come first
serve' basis.

4) We will also collect the house fund of RM 5 for those who hadn't paid yet.

Next week is last week before IMU CUP. I hope that all events have started their practise. Those who havent, PLEASE START BY THIS WEEK!! It is important for us to meet up and practise so that we'll know our strength and weaknesses.

Our aim is of course to do our best to win IMU CUP. But, do not forget to have fun and be passionate in whatever we do. Only then the true spirit of IMU Cup will prevail and we will be more motivated to give our best.

Lastly, as house captain, it's my wish to see everyone involved and participate in IMU Cup wholeheartedly. I'm free to receive any comments or critics, just post it at the chatbox. I'll take note of it. Thank you

To all who signed up for Track & Field and Road Relay, there will be Infinity Milers training at 5.30pm today and it would be great if you could join the club training! Infinity Milers is a running and mountain climbing club and is opened to all IMU students, so even if you didnt sign up for Track & Field and Road Relay, but have an interest in running and mountain climbing, please feel free to join the club activities every Wednesday, 5.30pm, meet at the atrium :D

Cheerleading!

Hello! There will be an extra Cheer Prac Monday (3 Aug), for guys who are new, if u have missed previous pracs or if you want to revise the old steps. Will be teaching 'Rumors', 'Lose Control' and 'What I Like About You (Non-pairwork part)'.

The normal Cheer Prac this week will be on Thursday (6 August),from about 6pm to 9pm. Will be reteaching 'What I Like About You (Pairwork part) and additional steps behind.

Cheerleading Stunts Workshop for all houses will be on Friday (7 August) from 5.30pm to 8pm. The venue is to be confirmed! Thanks! :D

IMU Cup Logo and Banner Design

1. IMU Cup Logo

The publicist Loshana (ME108) from the IMU Cup Committee has informed us that a new logo for the whole of IMU Cup is needed. She was impressed by the house logos that were designed by the different houses and has decided to let our local talents come up with the IMU Cup Logo design, instead of hiring an external designer.

The Prize money is RM250 for the chosen design and due to the limited funds allocated to each house, Loshana suggests that this money can be used as part of the house fund. The logo will also be used for the rest of the IMU cups for eternity.

There is no real theme or concept, go crazy! The design should be 6000 x 4526 and it should be done digitally. Unfortuntely, hand-drawn designs will not be accepted. Each house can submit as many logos as they want but there has to be a short write up explaining their logo.

Deadline: 20th July 2009

Anyone in the house can submit their logo designs but kindly send the logos to the House Email Address (imugriffinhouse@gmail.com) first, and the House will help you send your design to Loshana, this will make it easier for her to sort through the submitted logos.

2. House Banner Design

Designs for house banners will also be needed, if you have any designs in mind, please also email your design to imugriffinhouse@gmail.com.

We'd gone to few batches i.e M109 and P109 to pass the stickers and get the t-shirt sizes. We weren't able to go to other batches either cuz they're preparing for exam or they're on holiday. So what we can do now, PLS PASS UR T-SHIRT SIZE TO RESPECTIVE BATCH REPS. SMS THEM IF NECESSARY.

a)baby T size confirmed: 36 and 38

baby T size 40 and 42 are almost the same as normal guy cut S.

therefore to save trouble for you all, I am not ordering 40,42 at all.

normal guy cut T: s, m, l, xl, xxl, xxxl, xxxxl

b) Long sleeve shirt available at RM14 each. Please let especially the Malay girls in your house know about it.i will see what is the quantity and decide whether we should charge the extra RM3 on the students.

STICKERS ARE OUT!!

Fellow Griffinians,

THE STICKERS ARE ALREADY OUT! Remeber we mentioned about the stickers earlier. They're out and we will be distributing them to those present in IMU at the current moment (which means M207,M109,DT108,DT109,P109,P108). There are few important things about the stickers:

- we will stick it on the student ID, at the back part of it
- it's irremovable, once stuck you cant try to peel it off

So when we call up you guys after lecture, please come down ya.. There are few other things that we'd like to ask your favours :

a) HOUSE FUND . EVERY GRIFFINIANS WOULD NEED TO PAY RM 5. It'll be use to fund the house needs, i.e banner,flag,food,drinks. We'll ensure your money will not be misused.

b) SPORTS EVENT : We're going to recruit more people for all events and just sign up guys!! No need to worry even if u r not that good!!

Cheerleading Meeting

Hello everyone! There'll be a Griffin House cheerleading meeting on monday (25 May) at 11am in PBL Room 12. If you are interested in joining cheerleading, please contact me @ 014-9111695. Cheerleading is open to both guys and girls (cheerleading is not gay), hehe. and both guys and girls are equally impt!

There are a few things we can think about first, so that we can make the meeting on monday a quick one!

1. Songs we can use for the routine
2. Ideas for a good opening and ending/ possible storyline
3. Cheers
4. Personal schedule, so that we can fix practice and meeting sessions!

So if you are interested or if you know anyone else who is interested pls pass this info to them! and if you dont intend to join cheerleading but have ideas to contribute, pls feel free to post them on the facebook page or sms me! All ideas are welcome! Thank u! :D

Hello guys,here are few important updates:

a) To all sports rep, please remember to complete your tasks :
- find participants for your respective events
- prepare a training programme for the team (starting from mid-June) -venue/time
- prepare a proposed budget (minimal cost ya :p)

(Where to obtain?)

Contact Information for both Committee Members and Sports Reps can be obtained via the Notice Board at the atrium, I:Drive, or Facebook. So do sign up for the Sport you are interested in by contacting the Sports Reps! Cos every Griffin Member counts and every participation can go a long way!


2. Cheer Team and Design Team

The house also needs members for its Cheer Team and Design Team! These are VERY important teams, as the Cheer Team will be in charge of (a) coming up with a House Cheer, (b)cheering at the matches. All these will help in BOOSTING the house morale! :)

For the design team, they will be in charge of (a) designing 2 logos for our house. One stylized logo (shirts) and another intricate logo (banners and flags), (b) drawing and painting the banners and flags once the designs are ready.

Meeting with Core Committee Members

Hey everyone! Just to keep you guys updated, these are important points that were brought up during the meeting!

1. House Sticker
A colour-coded house sticker will be pasted onto the reverse side of our ID tags. There are 2 main purposes to this, (a) to be used for identification during registration for IMU Cup games before the match and (b) to signify which house you are in! Each student will only be given 1 house sticker, and are not allowed to trade their stickers with their friends from other houses (or disfigure the sticker). It is said to tear if we try to remove it from the tag and there will be no replacement for the sticker unless there is a valid reasons for it. but I doubt we need to do that right? :)

2. I:Drive
There will be a Griffin House folder in I:Drive. So, information and announcements will be made via I:Drive, as well as Facebook and the Blog! The contact details for the House Core Committee members and the Sports Reps will also be made available on I:Drive! So do check for updates!
